This read has been great in opening my eyes to the traditional aspects of tailoring. I am also enjoying the historical aspects of how the tailor's who occupy "The Row" have had to adapt their traditions to suit social and cultural changes as well as trends. I am hoping to incorporate a traditional historical aspect with regards to construction in my jacket with an innovative twist being the function/s of the jacket.
Ok Ashle' traditional v's innovation. Good way of incorporating the funtion. Could that mean that the function is potentially something more offbeat or obscure?
I am thinking about innovation in terms of a multi-functional garment. Either form a technologic perspective or a garment specifically designed to cope with today's hectic lifestyles. I think this could be an interesting direction as it would involve some cultural and lifestyle forecasting.
This blog is a part of my development in my third year exploratory studio class.
It will aim at furthering my understanding of "SHADOW" and the wider material studies of dress.
Any comments and opinions are greatly appreciated!
Happy blogging!
