Toile #3....and hopefully the last

Hopefully the last toiles....
I am happy with the perfected fit of the under vest and just need to now think of the detachable points.
The shoulder and sleeve shapes fit well also and the added overlap will help to reduce the arm pit action and still allow for movement. The smaller collar vest drapes well and will maybe have more shape in the wool fabric of the final, the back shape is a particular favourite.
The next step before cutting will be a short experiment with a tail shape to attach above the vents of the under vest.
Also a may begin the Illustrator component of the assignment to determine which pieces will have the contrast fabric before i purchase the quantity.
It's all happening!

Toile #2

Ok so some minor changes....
After trying the toiles on i realised that the space between the actual arm hole and the sleeve piece creates a arm pit hole with movement. So the second image is an attempt at a removable piece that will keep the hole from view. But as the function is influencing the design process, i realised this extra piece would restrict arm movement too much. Arm pit hole it is......it's a "design choice"!

These images are of my initial attempts at the vest and sleeves.
The overall shape I am happy with although the size and shape of the armhole needs to be tightened to continue with the streamlined look. The back of the shoulder piece will become less heavily and more yoke-like to compliment the vest structure if worn underneath. So far I like the success of the pieces as individuals and worn together with either as the exterior.
I think this is also a good starting place to draw the collar and lapel piece to compliment these structures.

The function is definitely influencing the design process at this stage...
